Rothamsted Experimental Station in Harpenden has revealed latest weather figures and has announced that March was sunny and dry with temperatures close to the March 30-year average; March 2011 was the eighth driest month since records at Rothamsted started in 1893- long may the fine weather continue!

Another bright day in Harpenden
Rainfall was 40.8mm below average with only 10mm recorded. There were 12 days with 0.2mm or more of rain but no days with more than 5mm. The wettest day was Wednesday, March 30, with 4.2mm. Sunshine was well above the 114.9 hours average for March at 149.6 hours and on Saturday, March 19, the sun shone for 11.1 hours.
So with the Easter holidays upon us let’s hope that the sun continues shining and the rain holds off (or for the gardeners among us limits itself to the evenings and over night when the children are in bed!!!)
