I love good food and am happy to pay for it but I do not recommend this place as it's far too overpriced for what it is. If it's a nice french restaurant you are looking for, then you'll have a better night jumping on a fast train to london. The atmosphere is ok, far too many tables crammed into a small room and waitress we had kept forgetting things we had asked for which didn't make the evening very relaxing.

I think the Bean Tree is ideal for couples because its a romantic restaurant that serves good French food in a very intimate atmosphere. Me and my partner came here whilst we were staying in town. The restaurant staff are pleasant, the quality of food memorable and the wine list brilliant. We will definitely come back if we ever visit Harpenden again.

Overlooking Leyton Green, The Bean Tree restaurant is in a fantastic location in central Harpenden.
Converted from an 18th century coach house, the walled terrace garden with the shelter of the Indian bean tree is a perfect location for a relaxing summers evening.
The quality food is accompanied by an outstanding and award winning wine list.
The menu changes seasonally and the quality and freshness of the locally sourced ingredients is evident in the finest French cuisine.
There is also live classic and romantic guitar every Wednesday.
The Bean Tree serves tasty modern French Food. The restaurant is situated within a lovely walled garden and on a warm summer's evening dining in it can make you feel like you're on a Mediterranean holiday! There is a set menu, which offers great value or if you feeling flush opt for the a la carte!
