Its a bugbear of mine that despite Harpenden being a commuter town, it's rail station isn't really fit for purpose. The access road to the platform one side isn't really big enough for two cars to pass each other - come on! And the access road to the main ticket office (platform 4 side) is similarly a legacy of Harpenden when it was a village - just not big enough or laid out properly to accommodate cars and taxis. The powers that be have finally expanded the covered bike sheds. But what about bus services that actually go to the train station – rather than stopping outside the post office? The station should be a focus of civic pride. Instead, it's not really up to the job...

    I have to agree with these comments. With the exception of the amount of car parking space and the fact that four lines run through the station the access and facilities are more in keeping with some two line stations served by two carriage sprinter trains. Many have bus stops though. Also whist the small coffee shop and Platform 1 outlet provide a good service a café with considerably more indoor seating is really required. As for the saga of the "Hole" what is the whole story?

    Being someone who cycles to the station....
    I wont get on to the roads up to the station with 5000 taxis an crazy house wives doing 3 - point turns in the yellow zones?!
    ..its the cycle sheds! people on mopeds should not be using it to park up?! Its tough love if there are no spaces??!

    Traffic Light Crossings in Harpenden High Street. I wish they would put the Red & Green Man crossing lights back on top of the lights for Pedestrians. The ones on the posts are so often hidden by people standing in front of them.
