With the publication last week of Tony Blair's memoirs, this is a very topical film choice and tickets are available on the door (Public Halls, Southdown Road, £3.50 for members, £4.50 for non-members).

"The Ghost" is Roman Polanski's adaptation of the Robert Harris thriller about a ghostwriter who tumbles onto a secret that places his life in danger as he takes down the life story of a TonyBlair-like former U.K. prime minister. Convinced by his agent that he's been granted a once-in-a-lifetime opportunity, talented British screenwriter "The Ghost" (Ewan McGregor) agrees to aid British prime minister Adam Lang (Pierce Brosnan) in completing his memoirs after the leader's former aid dies under mysterious circumstances. The more information The Ghost uncovers, the more convinced he becomes that his life could be in danger as well.

See you there - Sean Gough
