Hertfordshire County Council is calling out to members of the local community to form a new Citizen’s Panel.

The idea is that they will bring together people from different ages and backgrounds to consult on the wide variety of services the council provide within Hertfordshire. Those who get involved may steer the council on some big issues and prove hugely influential within their local community. As well as county council services, the panel may be consulted by other organisations including the Police Authority, NHS Hertfordshire and district and borough councils.

From today, invitations to join the panel will be sent out to 20,000 households within the County although those who don’t receive a letter will still be able to register their interest by filling out a short questionnaire here.

"This is an exciting opportunity for residents to help make a difference to their local area" said Robert Gordon, Leader of Hertfordshire County Council.

“Citizens’ Panel members will have the chance to have a say on the big decisions we make, from setting the budget and organising services to recycling and climate change. Along with our partners, we want to know what people think of the work we do and the decisions we are making. I hope residents will join the Citizens’ Panel and help shape Hertfordshire's future."

Will you be putting yourself forward to join this panel? If so, why? What services would you like to see improved in Harpenden? Have your say on harpendenpeople below!
