A Harpenden history society is benefitting from a donation by an aptly named Hertfordshire county councillor.
County Councillor Teresa Heritage (Harpenden South West) has allocated £800 from her locality budget to Harpenden and District Local History Society to pay the publishing costs of a membership leaflet and two town trails.
Cllr Heritage said: "The promotion and retention of knowledge about our local history is immensely important. I am pleased to once again assist the society with its publicity material and local guides with the aim of boosting membership."
A total of £10,000 is available to each of the 77 members of Hertfordshire County Council to spend on worthwhile community projects in their area.
Locality budgets were launched in July 2009, with funding to be used for worthy social, economic or environmental causes in Hertfordshire. For information on how to apply for funding under the scheme, visit www.hertsdirect.org/localitybudgets
