Aggressive Drivers!

I am nor sure if it is just me but the number of inconsiderate and aggressive drivers in Harpenden seems to be growing. Last Saturday morning I picked up a friend who lives off Milton Road to go over to Wheathampstead. On the return journey I was driving along Topstreet Way when I was caught up by a new'ish black Range Rover. Each time I slowed for one of the speed humps the braked later and later. On the final two he was even flashing his lights and giving me two-fingered salutes. Fortunately this moron (I cannot think of a better word for him that is printable) then turned off into Crabtree Lane. I was seriously concerned there would be an accident and my friend of a "road rage" incident. Why do people drive like this? Tailgating is unnecessary and dangerous!

Apologies the "re-post" this morning was entirely accidental as I had left the PC logged in all night! In no way did I want to pre-judge the outcome of police investigations into yesterday's accident. I suspect that the multitude of humps in this area do not add to safety as many drivers seem to concentrate more on the humps than other traffic/cyclists/pedestrians. An enforced speed limit, maybe lowered to 20 m.p.h. between Topstreet Way and Southdown Road, would be more sensible in my personal view.

ReportThis is definitley a problem area of Harpenden, what a shame that someone had to loose their life before anything was done about it. We should all write to the council, local mps and the mayor to point out the problems.

ReportIn reply to the accident where the man was tragically killed. I know this piece of road very well as we live in Barnfield Road and always comes out of Meadow Walk to go either way up or down Crabtree Lane depending on where we want to be. When you turn right out of Crabtree Lane (towards the double roundabout at Milton Road/Topstreet Way) there are always (more during the day) cars parked on the side of the road and this makes it extremely difficult for people trying to turn right onto Crabtree Lane to see any oncoming cars as the parked cars blocks the view. The cars from the top just carries on riding as well with very few people actually slowing down and checking for cars from the bottom side. Most of the cars parked there do so to avoid the charges at the station as I have seen many people park there and then walk to the station. I am dreading winter times (snowy/icy roads) as it makes it even more difficult to try and get out of Meadow Walk safely due to the "blind spot". I wonder if the Council can put some double lines there (especially close to the corner) to stop people from parking there!

ReportI was going to post on something else but saw this comment on my earlier post of today. It has sent a shiver through me and I am strangely lost for words. My thoughts go to those involved in the accident.
