A man was punched to the floor during a vicious attack at a kebab shop in Harpenden.

The incident occurred at 12.20am on Saturday, February 9th, inside Harpenden Grill and Kebab shop on Station Road.

The 20-year-old victim got into an argument with another man. The victim was punched several times, causing him to fall back and hit his head on the floor. As a result he suffered injuries to his head and face including a bleed to the brain and was taken to hospital for treatment.

The offender is described as a white man in his early 20s, of medium build, tall with short brown hair and 'wonky' teeth. He was wearing an 'army green' coloured t-shirt.

Following the incident, the offender has walked to the Harpenden rail station and got onto a train towards Luton.

Assistant Investigator Nina Garrard, from the Local Crime Unit in St Albans, said: "We know that there was a large amount of people outside the kebab shop at the time of the incident and who may have would have seen either the fight or the victim bleeding with a head injury.

"I would like to speak to any of these people as soon as possible."

Anyone with information is asked to contact Assistant Investigator Nina Garrard via the police non-emergency number 101 quoting crime reference number F2/13/207. Alternatively contact Crimestoppers, an independent charity, on 0800 555 111.
